Welcome to the Luverne Public Schools!
Welcome to the Luverne Public Schools! Thanks for investigating our website and all it has to offer.
Luverne has a rich tradition of success in academics, arts, and athletics. The culture of excellence is maintained by our tremendous and talented staff through the vision and wisdom of community support as evidenced by the recent completion of the renovation and new construction project at the Middle/High School. The Luverne community understands the importance of education and stands behind the commitment and investment they have made in the Luverne School District.
The Luverne community supported the $31 million project that has just been completed and it is truly spectacular. The new commons and cafeteria is really amazing and the state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center will “wow” anybody! The District has invested in technology and updated classrooms with new furniture and equipment. The furniture actually helps students and staff with the learning concepts being taught today because of the flexibility and multiple uses of the furniture. Classrooms became a bit larger and the skills involved with 21st century learning have become prevalent throughout the District. Staff is utilizing the popular learning commons to assist students with collaborative learning. Students have access to technology with the 1:1 initiative brought forward by administration and the Board of Education. This is an exciting time for students and families to take advantage of all the offerings at the Luverne Public Schools.
Luverne consistently graduates 95% of seniors and boasts top-notch ACT scores. The faculty and staff work hard to provide excellent learning opportunities for all students. Luverne offers concurrent courses for high school students and several career and technical opportunities as well. Luverne partners with Minnesota West Community and Technical College and Southwest Minnesota State University to help young adults foster their love of learning and to provide a possible pathway to future education beyond high school.
The District has recently incorporated the Project 11 curriculum to aid students with the social and emotional aspects of living in today’s world. Mental health is a key component to individual success and this investment will pay dividends to our students and staff.
Luverne uses Response to Intervention (RTI), Title 1, and SOARR to provide assistance to students in their quest for learning. The special education program is a comprehensive program for all students with disabilities. The special education department is a model program and one that is regarded as one of the finest in the state.
The Tri-State Band Festival has been a shining star for the school and community for over 70 years. The last Saturday in September is the annual event and it draws hundreds of people from the tri-state area looking to support the many fine musicians on display throughout the day. The festival has both parade and field show options for the bands. It really is a spectacular event.
The Fine Arts and Athletic programs are superb! Luverne has had great success in all athletic areas with many state tournament teams and individuals. Recent success has been in Cross-Country, Track, Hockey, Tennis, and Football. The shining stars in the Fine Arts program have been Mock Trial and Speech. Even during the pandemic, the Cardinals could not be kept down winning several section titles during the 2020-2021 campaign. Luverne claimed section titles in Football, Girls’ Hockey, Speech, Mock Trial, Boys’ Tennis, Boys’ Track, Girls’ Cross Country and Girls’ Track.
