Luverne High School is starting a new Cardinal Academy initiative. The Cardinal Academy is an attempt to help high school students think and prepare more for their career and life after high school. We have identified 5 career clusters that most occupations and careers would fit under: Arts/Communication Academy; Business Academy; Career/Technical Academy; Healthcare Academy; and Service Academy.

The top 3 goals of the academies are:
  1. Students are able to gain real world experiences within their chosen academy.
  2. Students are able to connect and build relationships with local professionals within their chosen academy.
  3. Students are recognized for their completion of their chosen academy.
A student is not required to choose an academy, but they are prepared and encouraged to do so. Once a student makes their choice, they have 3 main tasks for academy completion:
  1. Students will complete elective classes within that chosen academy.
  2. Students will complete a Seminar 1 and Seminar 2 (each a year long).
  3. Students will complete job shadow experiences with a capstone project.
In the end, they will be recognized at our annual spring awards ceremony and can display their accomplishments at commencement.

Parents/Students are encouraged to watch this informational video, giving more details about it. Also this document has specific information with an application.
