Luverne High School is starting a new Cardinal Academy initiative. The Cardinal Academy is an attempt to help high school students think and prepare more for their career and life after high school. We have identified 5 career clusters that most occupations and careers would fit under: Arts/Communication Academy; Business Academy; Career/Technical Academy; Healthcare Academy; and Service Academy.
The top 3 goals of the academies are:
- Students are able to gain real world experiences within their chosen academy.
- Students are able to connect and build relationships with local professionals within their chosen academy.
- Students are recognized for their completion of their chosen academy.
A student is not required to choose an academy, but they are prepared and encouraged to do so. Once a student makes their choice, they have 3 main tasks for academy completion:
- Students will complete elective classes within that chosen academy.
- Students will complete a Seminar 1 and Seminar 2 (each a year long).
- Students will complete job shadow experiences with a capstone project.
In the end, they will be recognized at our annual spring awards ceremony and can display their accomplishments at commencement.
Parents/Students are encouraged to watch this informational
video, giving more details about it. Also this
document has specific information with an application.
