On Thursday, November 6, the high school government classes visited the South Dakota Federal Courthouse. Students had the opportunity to observe bankruptcy cases and take part in a mock trial held inside the courtroom.
During the mock trial, they reenacted a real case and determined the sentencing. Judge Laura Ask and other attorneys generously shared insights about the courthouse and the legal system, as well as answered students’ questions.
The experience provided valuable, real-world perspectives on how the court system works, and students thoroughly enjoyed the chance to learn more about the law.
