On Friday, October 10, the Luverne FFA (Future Farmers of America) chapter held its annual Corn Drive — a long-standing fundraiser that allows members to connect with local farmers while supporting a variety of causes.
FFA Advisor Travis Bullerman shared how this year’s donations will be used:
Supporting True Friends and Camp Courage – This organization provides opportunities for children with disabilities to enjoy camp experiences, including zip-lining and adaptive sports.
Student Convention Opportunities – Funds will help offset costs for FFA members attending state and national conventions. Last year, the Ag Mechanics team qualified for the state convention in St. Paul. This fall, six students will travel to Indianapolis for the National FFA Convention at the end of October.
Ag Shop Improvements – A portion of the proceeds will go toward updating equipment in the Ag shop, especially for the Ag Mechanics team and classes.
Thanks to the generosity of area farmers, this year’s drive collected nearly 2,250 bushels of corn, along with $500 in cash donations.
“The Luverne FFA Chapter is so blessed to have such a supportive community that invests in our students,” said Bullerman.
