Tyler Hodge next to bell

On the first day of school, the Luverne High School Student Council introduced a new tradition.
The newly renovated cast-iron bell was put to use for the first time.

At 8 a.m., senior class president Tyler Hodge delivered an inspiring speech to the entire student body.

“You’re doing yourself a disservice by not taking advantage of every opportunity you can here at Luverne,” Hodge said.

His words encouraged students and set a positive tone to start the year.

Following his speech, he rang the bell, officially marking the beginning of the school year.

Later that day, the graduating class of 2026 gathered in the Alumni Garden to take part in the tradition.

Each senior rang the bell, with the opportunity to do so again in the spring on their last day of school, symbolically closing their time at LHS.
