"A Christmas Past and Present"
Winterfest 2006
By: Erica Knips
One of Luverne's many highlights of the year is the
weekend of Winterfest. This year, Winterfest
started on Friday, December 1 with many activities
going throughout the day. These activities
included a Cribbage Tourney at the Eagles Club, a 5K
Run, and the play "A Smokey Mountain Christmas-The
Homecoming" at the Palace put on by the American
Reformed Church.
Saturday was filled
with many activities that all age groups could
participate in. For young kids who do not have
their licenses and cannot drive to different stores to
get their parents a gift, the 4-H sponsored a Santa's
Workshop in the Elementary School, which started at
10:00 a.m. A major event that occurs during
Winterfest is the Craft Show, which was held in the
gymnasium from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Ending
the night was the annual Parade of Lights that started
at 7:00 p.m., followed by a play at the Palace.
