April 23, 2018

  • It is amazing what a little sunshine and warm weather can do for our playgrounds. Our grass areas are still wet and mud. Students will have blacktop recesses until things dry up.
  • Students in grades 3-5 will take the MCA Math test this week. Each class is scheduled to test no more than an hour on two separate days. The test is untimed and some students may test on a third day.
  • Parents can help their students prepare for testing:
    • Get a good night's sleep.
    • Be at school on testing days. We test in the morning, so the afternoon is best for appointments.
    • Have a good breakfast.
    • Just encourage your child to do their best.
  • Our 5th grade students will also take the MCA Science the week of April 30th.
  • Our Spring Bookfair is up and running in our media center. It will be up through Tuesday. This is a great time to stock up on books for the summer.
  • We kickoff our Cardinal Dash fun run/walk fundraiser this Thursday. The Cardinal Dash is scheduled for Friday, May 18th. This is our only fundraiser for the year. Proceeds will go to continue to support our PPIE activities and fund a VR lab for the elementary school.
  • We have a very special event on Friday. Coach Sloth will be here to do presentations for all our students. Coach Sloth is an author of children's book. He will be presenting anti-bullying messages through positive life experiences. Information went home in the Friday Folder if parents would like to purchase any of his books.
  • Our May Calendar will be posted this week. There are a number of activities and events planned for the month. Refer to this calendar to keep informed of everything going on.
