February 20, 2012
- February is I Love to Read Month. This Friday's theme is Wacky Wednesday. Students are encouraged to wear mismatch clothes.
- We began our MCA math testing this month. Students in grades 3-5 are required to take the MCA in math and reading each year. The math test is given on the computer. Students will be given multiple times to take this test this spring. Our third grade students will take the math test this week.
- Preliminary student reports will be coming home with our fourth and fifth grade students this week. Parents are reminded that these are preliminary. Students will be testing again around the end of March. Teachers will be using the data from these preliminary tests to prepare students for the next round of testing.
- Our fourth grade students will participate in a Kindness Retreat on Wednesday. Youth Frontiers is an organization from the Twin Cities that will be leading the retreat.
- Spring conferences are scheduled for February 23rd. If your child is scheduled for a conference, a letter was sent home a couple of weeks ago. Please make sure you confirm your conference time with your child's teacher. If you did not receive a conference letter, but have questions or concerns, please contact your child's teacher.
- Kindergarten conferences will be held on February 23rd and March 1st. Conferences are scheduled for all kindergarten students to discuss their progress. THERE IS NO SCHOOL FOR KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS ON MARCH 1ST.
- Third grade students will begin their swimming unit on Monday, February 27th. They will swim each day for two weeks. Students will need to bring their suits and a towel each day.
- Our third and fourth grade students will travel to Sioux Falls on Monday, February 27th to attend the SD Symphony. Thank you to Mrs. Swenson for acquiring a grant through Target to fund this trip for our students.
- The end of the third quarter is right around the corner, March 9th.
