The prairie project is being attempted with the leadership of the Windom office of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Mr. Gregg Pattison is assisting the Luverne schools in increasing the educational use of areas such as the Touch the Sky Prairie found northwest of Luverne. The Touch the Sky Prairie is the first of area prairie land to become part of the Northern Tall Grass Prairie program. This prairie is being developed in cooperation with the Brandenburg Foundation.
The Fish and Wildlife Service has received an invasive species grant to purchase equipment to allow Luverne HS biology students to start an on-going survey of the plant and bird species found on the prairie.
Check back for more information about the project as it develops.
